The day was April 2, 2011 – My Birthday! This year was the first time my Dad didn’t buy me any gift, rather he promised me of a surprise!
I didn’t know that I took birth on “The Autism Awareness Day” until dad told me so on the day.
My father being the in – charge of an Autism center, took me over there the Saturday morning.
I had a thought that the autistic kids could not communicate well, they prefer remaining in a separate world of their own, but these kids proved all my thoughts wrong, and all credits go to HBOT treatments.
With the help of the HBOT therapy, they now can do many things like the other normal kids.
They entertained us on the day by various performances.
- Sensing an object without seeing, then describing it.
- Singing beautiful songs and playing musical instruments.
- Reciting small phrases.
- Playing simple games.
- Dancing with the beat of the music.
Beside the HBOT therapy, they were also given the musical treatment that too helped them a lot. It was not just the singing and playing the musical instrument. It is a thorough planned action. They were asked to sing with the music that helps them to increase their communication power. Flute was a very important instrument each were given to play during their learning period, this helped them to develop their communication power.
However it was really good to see that these kids are heading towards a normal life. We all are waiting for the day, when all the tears of their mother’s eye will turn into the smile of their lips.
I am really thankful to my dad who gave me such a wonderful opportunity to know the autistic kids so closely. The day will remain written in golden words in my heart forever! This was the wonderful birthday gift I ever had.
