If you have had your eyes open for information on autism and going through resources and attending autism aid events, you are already on the right track. Autism, unlike many other diseases and disabilities, requires you to understand a number of different factors. The treatment options are not inexpensive either, unless you have been offered financial aid for autism.
The psychological factors involved with autism makes an autistic child much different from any other child. Unlike other children, an autistic child is never an attention seeker, and prefers to stay aloof from others. Toys and other kids stuff are not on the list of items they prefer to have around them. An autistic kid may not even want to be touched and cuddled.
Signs of Autism
The main reason that most autism resources and organizations providing autism aid present for such type of behavior is the abnormal nerve functions seen with children suffering from autism. The brain receives signals that may not correspond with the actual feel of a touch. A soft touch may feel like a thorn’s prick.
A lovely music may result in severe headaches for the child. Such a child may even suffer from anxiety with too many people around them, all because of the sensory issues associated with autism. Such nervous problems are seen when the blood vessels are unable to carry the right amount of blood to the brain.
The power of speech and sociability are two factors that an autistic child is bound to face problems with. Eye contact while a person is talking to them, or clarity of speech may take a long time to show in case of such a child. Irritability when being talked to is a symptom that has been found to be most common. But all these characteristics do not mean that these children are not socially fit.
Therapies and Autism Aid
Various therapies and treatment procedures, like HBOT therapy (hyperbaric oxygen therapy), has shown a good level of success with regards to autism treatment. Even though such treatment is found to be very expensive, a number of organizations and government agencies provide funding and aid for autism these days, making it possible for parents to treat autism.
However, autism aid and autism treatment through HBO therapy is not the ultimate answer to comforting an autistic child. Understanding how they feel and what they want to convey is more important in making their lives easier, less painful and more comfortable.
